Darjeeling Overview and History

The history of this city is as fascinating as it is. Initially, Darjeeling was part of Sikkim then Bhutan captured it, later it was again ruled by Sikkim.

In the 18th century this city was occupied by Nepal, but after the defeat of the war in 1817, the city had to be handed over to the East India Company. With its natural charm, Darjeeling continued to be victim of political instability, sometimes even the Russian people were coming here. Later on this place became very popular and they started settling here.

Toy Train

Darjeeling Journey is incomplete without toy train. The name of toy train is included here in the world's heritage and famous all over the world, Toy Train is also known for its special identity. It was established in 1921, initially it was part of the Himalayan Railway. This railway is 70 km long and ends up reaching Tatsia Loop.

This Toy Train runs out of Deodar and bamboo-filled roads at a slow speed of about 15 km / hour and passes through the road which is very closed to the house.Tourists can see the lifestyle style of the people along with the natural shades of Darjeeling.

Padmaja Naidu Zoo

The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Biological Garden is Located at right side of the Mountaineering Institute. Himalayan leopard and red panda can also be seen in this garden. Along with this, there are also Tibetan wolves and Siberian tigers, which are rarely seen among others. There are also 50 species of orchid which is unique in itself.

Bagdogra (Siliguri) is a nearby airport at a distance of 65Km from where flights operate daily for places like Delhi, Kolkata, Patna and Guwahati. The nearest railway station to reach via the train is Jalpaiguri station. Trains run for Jalpaiguri from different parts of the country, from where you can easily be reached here. Darjeeling is connected to the road network along Siliguri therefore, if you want to reach Darjeeling via the road, the road to Siliguri can be selected.
